How is each treatment organised for international patients?
The organisation of treatment begins long before the first trip to Barcelona. The first consultation can be carried out online, allowing the medical team to review the patient's case, questions to be answered and a personalised treatment plan to be designed.
Whenever the clinical situation allows, part of the follow-up is coordinated from the patient’s country of residence, with the aim of minimising travel and making the whole process easier to organise.
In vitro fertilisation (IVF)
In an IVF treatment, part of the ovarian stimulation and monitoring can be carried out in the country of origin, provided the clinical circumstances allow it and in coordination with the Barcelona IVF medical team.
Patients only need to travel to Barcelona for procedures that must be performed at the clinic, such as ovarian puncture and embryo transfer.
IVF with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT)
When the treatment includes PGT, the corresponding genetic analysis is performed after the embryos have been obtained. While awaiting the results, the embryos remain vitrified and the transfer is scheduled later, without this stage requiring additional travel to the clinic.
Egg donation and egg donation with PGT
In egg donation treatments, the patient’s endometrial preparation is usually carried out in the country of origin, while the team coordinates each phase of the treatment to optimise timings and minimise travel.

ROPA method
In the ROPA method, both women in the couple take part, so planning is especially important.
