Vitrification

What is vitrification?

Vitrification is an ultrafast freezing technique in which the eggs or embryos are submerged into liquid nitrogen at -196 ºC. This avoids cell damage and increases the survival rate at thawing.

What advantages has vitrification?

Vitrification has made it possible to freeze eggs and embryos at blastocyst stage obtaining excellent results. This allowed us to optimize assisted reproduction strategies in formerly difficult cases, such as hyper stimulation syndrome of the ovaries or patients with a low response.
