ROPA method

ROPA method
share

The ROPA method is an ideal technique for couples of women who want to be mothers. But what is it exactly?

ROPA Method: Reception of Oocytes from the Couple

The ROPA method consists of a treatment of in vitro fertilization shared between the two women of a homosexual couple. Specifically, one of them provides the oocytes, and the other carries out the pregnancy. In this way, the two women actively participate in bringing the baby into the world, and the two will be their biological mothers.

What does it consist of?

The egg of one of the women is fertilized in the laboratory with the sperm of a donor. Once this is done, the next step is to transfer the resulting embryo to the other woman's uterus.

In which cases is it indicated?

The ROPA method is especially recommended for couples of women who wish to cope with motherhood, either by their own choice or for medical reasons such as:

  • Alterations in the quality of oocytes (or absence of oocytes)

  • Severe dysfunction of the ovaries

  • Chromosomal or genetic alterations

  • Failure of other assisted reproduction techniques.

From Barcelona IVF we will help you choose the best method for you and your partner and, of course, we will solve all the doubts you may have about the ROPA method if that is finally your choice. Do not hesitate!
