How Long Does Implantation Bleeding Last?
Implantation bleeding is a slight bleeding that occurs 10 to 14 days after fertilization, when the embryo attaches to the endometrium. It is a minor, dark or pinkish bleeding without clots (which differentiates it from menstrual bleeding). Although it may be accompanied by mild discomfort, it is not associated with severe pain.
The duration of this bleeding varies from one woman to another, and it can last 1 to 3 days.
Implantation bleeding does not pose a risk during pregnancy; it is rather considered a normal occurrence in 25% to 30% of pregnancies. It does not require treatment as it resolves on its own.
However, if the bleeding is heavy, prolonged, and accompanied by intense abdominal pain, it is advisable to consult healthcare professionals to rule out pregnancy-related complications.
